The United Nations and the World Water Council predict that half the world’s population will be living in areas at risk from storms and other weather extremes by 2025
- In the United States 300 million people are exposed to some sort of flooding each year.
- In the U.S. alone 100 million homes have a flood risk rating if just from downpours
- The estimated average annual cost of flood damage in the U.S. is $3 Billion. With a major Hurricane such as Katrina, it was high as $42 Billion!
- The majority of family homes and properties in flood risk areas do not have adequate insurance against the vast and devastating damage caused by floods nor do their owners have the means of protecting the structures in time.
